Nikita – the best speaker in the region!

Imagine that…” was the title and theme for this year’s Junior Speaking Contest.

All second year pupils had to write a three-minute speech starting with those two words. From local issues to dreams of a better world, all pupils wrote and performed their public speaking extremely well across mavo, havo and vwo. Each class chose their top two pupils, who then went through to the school round. The winners from mavo, havo and vwo were then put forward to the regional group of Dual Language Education Schools where the Junior Speaking Contest is mainly held in the third year classes.

The level of English and level of delivery of the speeches at school was extremely high and the winners were difficult to select, so we roped in all of the second years to help us select the school’s winner for atheneum, havo and mavo.

Congratulations to all our school winners!

The three Gold winners were sent through to compete for the coveted title of Best Regional Speaker and we were thrilled to hear the news that Nikita was chosen as the overall winner! Many congratulations to her! The international jury were particularly impressed by Nikita’s speech’s content and her delivery. “She showed emotion and power in her use of the language!”

Our congratulations to Nikita and to the teachers involved in coaching the classes to deliver such mind-blowing speeches! Thanks Mrs. van Dam and Mrs. Clarkson!
