Adios España!

With tears, embraces and exchanging of numbers and social media details, the pupils bade their farewells after what was an exhilirating (last) day in the beautiful town of Caravaca.

The morning started with a reflection task looking at what each individual got from the week in Spain as part of our partnership with IES Ginés Pérez Chirinos and subsidy provider, Erasmus+. Pupils were then asked to consider what one word best described their experience during the course of this year. That sent the group into thinking mode as each group could not write down the same word twice.

Once the handprints with this special word had been added to the Erasmus+ wall and signed by each pupil, it was time to select the pupils to represent each group at the final presentations in the municipality’s cultural hall. With 9 Dutch and Spanish pupils on stage, the room lit up with their reports on the week.

During our time there, the final Erasmus+ News programme was broadcast with some very familiar faces presenting their learning with this new technology. Special thanks to the Erasmus+ team for the many hours of editing that went into putting the professional programme together.

The afternoon was complete with a Linner (lunch/dinner) and a party with snacks and soft drinks at Jardines del Sol, before walking into town for some freetime before calling it a night and heading back to the accommodation.

All in all, an amazing, educational, inspiring, unique, gastronomically-interesting and most of all enjoyable week (thanks to the pupils for some of these adjectives!) in Caravaca!

We’ll be back in school again on Monday with buckets of confidence, an unforgettable experience etched in our minds and a new focus on respect for diversity!
